It is undeniable that global warming has been a concerning problem for the whole world. There is obvious evidence that this climate effect has been caused solely by human activities, and governments around the world are pushing to collaborate in solving this pressing issue.
The primary cause of global warming is human activities relating to burning fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and gas. Since the industrial revolution, human life has become heavily dependent on these sources of energy. To further illustrate, the majority of transportation nowadays is using gas. Unfortunately, gas, as well as other fossil fuels, will release greenhouse gasses trapping the heat and consequently making our planet hotter. Another underlying reason for the rise of global temperatures is deforestation. Trees are extremely important for climate conditioning because they help to cool down the temperature and absorb greenhouse gasses. However, forests now are overly exploited to serve wood-using industries or are cut down for agriculture and construction reasons. Knocking down forests means we are destroying the earth’s carbon sinks, leading to releasing more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and driving global warming.
Global warming is a global issue and the government in each country should implement strategies to together slow down global temperature rise. One effective measure could be promoting renewable energies in order to gradually replace the traditional sources, coupled with increasing energy efficiency. To achieve that, governments could encourage businesses to invest more in research and development alternative energy sources through tax instruments and stimulate citizens to change their energy behaviors by information campaigns. Another solution for governments to tackle global warming is to focus on sustainable agriculture and forest management. Authorities should enforce stricter regulations to combat illegal logging and penalties for those who violate environmental laws.
In conclusion, while there are a number of leading causes to global warming, there are still some viable solutions for governments to alleviate this issue.
