While it has facilitated numerous economic activities and diversification, it has also affected economic growth. This issue is primarily caused by western involvement and economic growth, and to mitigate this problem people should foster a strong sense of cultural education.
One key reason for the loss of identity is the dominance of the western culture. People around the world are exposed to its culture for they watch western movies and listen to their songs. For example, young folks in various countries prefer western music over local melody. Moreover, English is known as the most important and used language around the world, therefore the new generation prefers to use this language more frequently and this leads them to become detached from their root cultures. Furthermore, multinational corporations play a crucial role in dislodging culture. For instance, in the UAE there are many chains of western fast foods restaurants such as McDonald’s which leads to dispatching from numerous other cultural restaurants.
To counteract these challenges and preserve cultural identity, several solutions can be implemented. Firstly, the government must promote cultural education which teaches younger generations about their heritage, art and language. Secondly, local communities can organize cultural festivals to celebrate and acknowledge individuals in learning more about where their ancestors come from. By way of example, celebrating the national day of the Emirates attracts both residents and visitors for there are local emirate’s musical and performance shows and this motivates people to get more involved in their heritage.
