The notion of studying abroad is a thrilling opportunity for countless individuals. It is widely believed that international education provides several benefits. Nevertheless, others take an opposing view and argue that studying at a domestic university is more practical due to some challenges related to adaption to a foreign environment. From my perspective, studying overseas is a better alternative.
One essential benefit of study abroad is the development of language skills. In other words, immersing ourself in a foreign environment forces students to use language daily. This helps improve language proficiency. Moreover, it also boosts not only confidence but also fluency. This improvement contributes to a better career opportunity and a higher salary. For instance, a recent study by Thammasat University found that individuals who graduated from foreign institutions earned approximately 40% more than those studying domestically.
In addition, studying in a foreign country enhance significant life skills. The reason is that living in an unfamiliar environment requires students to become independent. That is, students need to rely on themselves ,such as housework, financial management, and problem solving, due to being alone. Thus, all experiences that face with challenges lead to maturity. For example, a recent poll by Ministry of Education revealed that students who studied abroad reported feeling more self-reliant and adaptable after their experiences.
In conclusion, although studying abroad faces with some difficulties, the long-term benefits in term of language abilities and personal growth make it more valuable opportunity. It is recommended that parents encourage their children to pursue higher education abroad.
