There is an option that the government’s budget should be invested in sports and art activities for students in school instead of being spent on professional sports and art performances for the public. From my perspective, I contend that each of these two sides is important in its own ways and the government should allocate money to both these developments equally
On the one hand, the idea that the government should focus on supporting the development of sports and art activities in schools is attractive for two main reasons. The first reason for this is that it can help to promote a healthy lifestyle among young people. As for sports, encouraging students to engage in sports activities could keep them away from serious health problems such as obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and poor immune systems. Secondly, these extracurricular activities offer students relaxation and contentment over their hectic schedule. In fact, the number of students suffering from depression or related mental health issues is increasing nowadays due to many different reasons such as academic pressure or peer pressure. Thus, having a chance to practice sports or creative pursuits can help students relieve stress effectively and even build social connections.
However, the government should provide equal investment for professional sports and art events. This seems to stem from the fact that it can have a nationwide economic impact. To be specific, it can generate tourism, attract foreign investment, and enhance the country’s reputation which greatly contributes to the national revenue. For example, the global dominance of Brazilian soccer stars like Pelé and Neymar has brought immense national pride and a high reputation for Brazil on the international stage. Therefore, if the government supports sports events and art performances for the public, more economic values could be achieved in the near future.
In conclusion, both investments in sporting and artistic activities for children and professional events and performances for the general public are vital and one side should not be prioritized over the other. Equal financial support provided by the government should be highly necessary.
