In this day and age, many argue that public budgets should be spent on building sports amenities for schoolchildren instead of supporting professional sports events and artistic performances for the public. Others, myself included, partly agree with this statement as each domain is vital in its own way.
On the one hand, allocating money to sports and arts can be attributed to several compelling reasons. Firstly, investments in state-of-the-art sports facilities and artistic galleries can boost tourism within the country, leading to prosperity as foreign tourists flock during special sports events, like the World Cup and Olympic period, and pay for accommodation, food, and souvenirs. Secondly, pouring national budgets into these domains helps to build a fine national image in the eyes of foreign friends as well as its citizens, spreading our cultural values and resulting in far-reaching outcomes of cooperation with other countries.
On the other hand, there are a variety of reasons why I believe that schoolchildren should be encouraged and supported to play sports. The first rationale behind this is that students can hone their physical abilities, fostering a healthy lifestyle and reducing rates of suffering from several illnesses, like obesity or type-two diabetes. For example, with fully equipped facilities, schoolchildren can learn how to swim in their own school, leading to great physical well-being. In terms of spirits, solidarity and a sense of togetherness can be fostered through physical activities at school, creating memorable childhood experiences.
In conclusion, although the merits of students’ sports learning are indisputable, I also contend that other fields, such as sports and arts, are of great significance. I believe that government funds should be allocated at an appropriate rate to different areas.
