Band 5+: Governments around the world spend too much money on treating illnesses and diseases and not enough on health education and prevention. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The authorities of countries around the nations have been overspending a great amount of fund on giving treatments either illnesses or diseases instead of focusing on precautions and health promotion. This essay agrees that the education of health and so are its anticipations ought to obtain more attention than of curing the sickness only. The first essay will discuss about the reason how the significance of health literacy plays an important role and the second essay will talk about why it is insufficient just to provide the medication.

Providing education of health significantly contributes to the advantage of public health. This is because the insight understanding how to deal with the symptoms of sicknesses through this education can evidently increase the public awareness in dealing with healthy lifestyles which are extremely useful to anticipate chronic illnesses. For instance, based on the Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia reported in 2023 that as soon as this kind of education was conducted, there had been a 60% decrease of death caused by Malaria due to the increase of citizen’s consciousness about health.

On the other hand, excessive use of funds on medications only is inadequate for the public’s well-being. Since the causes of many diseases are related to unhealthy habits, therefore, public awareness should be prioritized to minimize the recurrence of illnesses. For example, according to a study conducted by the World Health Organization in 2022 stated that there were around 40% higher rate of preventable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension had been recorded, compared to the nations with well-established public health awareness programs.
