Band 4+: Governments should spend more money on providing STEM* education in schools than on music and art because employers need more people with a STEM background than music or art.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Government should invest in STEM subject more than art or music because employers need more people in STEM background than art or music. The investment from government should provide more in STEM but it does not relate to employer’s human resource demand.

From my perspective, STEM subject has higher cost of equipment than art or music, including cost of tools and advanced technology for researching new knowledge and solve problem to reach the goal, while art or music only use practicing skill and artistic sense. The reason art or music has lees cost than STEM is ‘a one time pay’, when one affords for instrument or art tool, one can use for a long time until it broke or run out, it might have a little bit additional cost but still not too high, incase of buying instrument such as saxophone, after purchased it might have additional cost for reed which have to change every month, or cost of instrument care.

However, in term of career path, art or music still needs in future industry. STEM workers use to work with artists to express their idea through artist’s work, for example when developing application, UX (user experience) and UI (user interface) developers who is in role of front-en and back-en must communicate with each other ambiguously for the making practical app pages which designed for user to easy access. Art or music is broader skill in work, it is not only for admiration but also communication,

To sum up, STEM education should be invested by government more than art or music due to the cost of equipment, but it might not relate with the need of employer.
