In the recent decades, the debates over the importance of an art degree in the modern society has been a focal point in discussions about the career development and employment. Some people are of the opinion that a diploma in a creative industry is still relevant; however other’s disagree. This essay will explore whereas artistic qualification is still a valuable skill to obtain in the technological era.
There are many reasons to chose an art course nowadays. Firstly, it is important to mention that the artistic knowledge increase the emotional well-being of the society. For example, a recent study published by the Oxford University, shows that people who participate in art and crafts activities are more emotional stable due to the release of hormones such as endorphines and domopine. The time spent on examining art works, from different time periods allowed individuals’s to better understand the human psychology which is passed though generations. This conceptual understandings combined with creative fufilment aids in building a more meaningful conections among humans, preventing mental health illneses and increases the overall mental state of the population which is a crucial aspect of life with the presence of technological development.
On the other hand, the increase in electronics efficiency makes an art degree less valuable. For instance, a study conducted by Cambidge University shows that Artifical Intelegence (AI) can create an apartment plan within 30 seconds. Such developments demotivates one’s to choose creative courses, as the knowledge and skills obtained can be easily replased by computerization. This may incentivise people to participate in the labor forces which are more profitable and yet not overtaken by electronical devices.
In my estimation, knowledge related to artworks in its different forms is still relevant in this decade as it creates a more emotionally intelligent society.
