This matter is generating a lot of controversy lately. While many people speak strongly for it, the opponents are also firm in their opinion.
So, what drives people towards it? Undoubtedly, eating meat provides essential nutrients, such as protein and iron, which are extremely vital. If we look around, for example, it is clearly seen that these nutrients play a crucial role in maintaining overall health and body function. Besides, meat consumption helps support local and global food industries cannot be ignored as well. It is widely accepted that it helps to make the economic scenario better. Apart from this, the culinary variety and cultural significance of meat dishes is another viable cause. It goes without saying that there are many examples which support it in this case. So, we should lend a hand to develop it – both individually and holistically.
There are, on the contrary, several factors that show it has drawbacks too. To begin with, the overconsumption of meat is linked to health issues such as heart disease and obesity, which is very much critical in this case. It is already recognized that it creates many hazards in society or otherwise. In addition, environmental degradation caused by meat production is another by-product of this phenomenon. For instance, it leads to some breakdowns in the regular harmonious way of our life due to deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions. Lastly, ethical concerns about animal cruelty seems another outcome of this practice. People all around the globe are experiencing, more often than not, an increase in this concern which can no doubt result in even bigger problems.
In sum, it is clearly visible that like everything else in this world, it has both pros and cons. However, in my perspective, since the dark sides are more, we must try to avoid it.
