Nowadays, some people come up with an idea to tax private cars very heavily and direct this amount of money to free or very low-cost rail travel systems to tackle serious traffic problems.
I totally agree with this viewpoint because of some reasonable advantages, and in this essay I will explain these reasons and opinions.
On the one hand, if the government implements this idea, there may be some unpleasant consequences. Firstly, nowadays many people have financial problems, such as daily expenses and utility bills. If their cars are taxed heavily or they have to pay big fines, it can lead to serious financial pressure. For example, in our city a similar idea was implemented and over 50% of private car owners remained under financial stress due to economic difficulties.
On the other hand, this can be an effective solution because governments have already used many methods to prevent traffic, but most of them have not worked. That is why they should implement this idea. Moreover, it provides many advantages, such as a cleaner environment. If there are fewer cars and more focus on rail travel, roads will become less crowded and traffic will flow more smoothly. In addition, if rail travel improves, one of the biggest problems will become much smaller. For instance, one train can carry about 100-150 passengers to their destination in a few hours, while the same number of people would require many private cars.
In conclusion, although this idea may cause financial difficulties for some citizens, it still has many advantages, such as reducing air pollution and improving the transport system.
