In this contemporary era, the debate over aiding the poorer nations has garnered significant attention. Although helping other nations would enhance the progress of developing countries, I believe there could be other ways to foster nations’ development without receiving help from governments of richer nations.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why receiving help from other nations is beneficial. Firstly, some countries do not have proper infrastructures in different areas such as, medical fields, engineering, and agriculture; therefore, governments in these countries cannot provide its dwellers with opportunities to improve, and receiving help from other nations is essential for them. Secondly, in poorer countries, their professionals tend to immigrate primarily because of lack of facilities and insufficient incomes; in such a situation asking for help from richer nations can prevent further experts’ immigration by providing better life quality which leads to countries’ progress. For instance, US financial aid to Ukraine helped this country during the war against Russia.
On the other hand, there could be other measures that governments can implement them for their progress. I believe that governments can spend countries’ national resources in an efficient way in order to ensure their progress; for example, instead of selling their oil and gas to other nations to gain income, they can industrialise them and produce various goods to earn more profit and maintain these non-renewable sources for future generations as well. Moreover, allocating significant amount of money for essential areas, such as health, education and trade can enhance countries’ development because improvements in these areas ensure countries’ development.
In conclusion, on balance, despite the fact that helping developing countries could have beneficial results for them, I claim that other measures such as, providing a proper infrastructure and spending national resources wisely, would help them better.
