There is an increased trend of living in an old age shelter nowadays. Britain is one of the places, where people prefer to live with other old people and being taken care by nurses over there. Even though government has been paying for this service, in my opinion, its their family’s responsibility to take care of their older parents and they should be paying all of their expenses.
To begin with, parents spend a lot of money on the upbringing of their children. After spending these much amount, they may not have enough money to spend after their retirement. As a responsible son, a person should be paying all of their parents spendings after their retirement because they are the ones who help him become a successful person. For example, for getting my masters degree in Canada, my parents helped my with 40,000 dollars without saving anything for themselves. So, it is my responsibility now to take care of them. Because of these reasons, family should save a separate portion of money for their older parents.
However, on the other hand, there are some old people who lost their family earlier, and do not have anyone left in with them. Not only they do not have any source of income now, but also do not have anyone to pay for them. In these cases, the government should pay for all their bills. Firstly, people pay lot of taxes to the government. Some portion of these taxes go to the pension fund, which is established to help older people. The nation can spend some amount from this portion to take care of old people in the shelter. As government is also responsible for taking care of the people in their country, they can take care of paying for old people.
Summing up, It is main responsibility of the family to pay the bills of their old people, but if they can not, the government should always be ready to take over the expenses of old people.
