It is believed that universities should admit an equal number of female and male students as in the present-day society everyone should be entitled to enjoy/gain the same opportunities/chances obtaining higher education. As for me, this statement is true because, in my opinion, gender inequality should be wiped out. Young men and women put in time and effort into their education, which can’t be determined by their gender. Moreover, it might set a good example for other generations of young people.
Firstly, I would like to talk about different passing scores in almost every university. For instance, in the city of Minsk, the major universities have much higher passing grades for female students than for male graduates, especially in medical universities. As a matter of fact, women need to have perfect grades to be admitted, while men can just have normal scores. So/thus/therefore, I think/reckon that males and females’ rights should be equal because all of them make the same amount of effort. Secondly, I have noticed that students, regardless of gender, do their utmost/best to get into university.
Furthermore, equal representation helps to create positive examples for future generations of students. As a result, young people, seeing successful representatives of both sexes in various fields, can be inspired to follow their interests, regardless of/irrespective of gender stereotypes. Also/additionally, it will encourage better development of the next generation.
On the other hand, I can disagree with the statement, as there are many areas of expertise in contemporary universities that suit men better than women, for instance, military and construction faculties/jobs. As far as I am concerned, young people should decide by themselves and not just adapt to society’s opinion.
To sum up, universities should accept an equal number of students in every subject, but in some cases education inequality can exist. Moreover, gender inequality shouldn’t influence educational opportunities.
