In this argument, I agree that violent images on television, as well as in computer and video games, are a detrimental influence on people. Many individuals, especially children, can easily be influenced by the violent imagery they encounter. Often, people mimic what they see without realizing that it is inappropriate behavior. For example, action movies are predominantly violent, rough, and dangerous, frequently depicting scenes where characters are physically harmed.
Computer and video games can be even more problematic, as they are often connected to the internet, allowing access to a wide range of content, both positive and negative. Violent images are commonly found in videos posted on social media, which is concerning because children often have access to these platforms. Some individuals who become involved in criminal activities may not necessarily be evil; they might simply be engaging in behavior without understanding the potential consequences, including arrest.
There are numerous video games that center around criminal behavior and negative actions, such as ‘Subway Surfers,’ ‘Grand Theft Auto,’ and ‘Thief Simulator.’ These games tend to negatively influence young players, who may not realize that imitating such actions in real life is wrong. In these games, children commit crimes for entertainment, and there is a genuine concern that they may attempt to replicate these behaviors in the real world.
In my opinion, while television, computers, and video games can provide entertainment, their capacity for negative influence cannot be ignored. There are measures that can be taken to minimize the promotion of violence while retaining engaging content. For instance, implementing age restrictions and censoring scenes that are inappropriate for imitation could be effective strategies.
