In recent decades, with the continuous development and advancement of technology, these days, individuals can easily own private automobiles, even more of a personal transportation. Bus this prevailing trend is also causing traffic jams and air pollution all over the world becoming serious problems that need to be tackled by countries working together. To deal with these problems, some people suggest raising the price of fuel. However, I think that not the best way to address the current problems and there should be better and more effective solutions.
Going up the price of petrol⛽ may improve effectively the present situation but just in a short time. Initially, people will try to minimize the amount of fuel needed to be consumed in daily activities and unnecessary demands. Nevertheless, over a period of time, humans gradually get used to the increased cost of power sources and just end up driving their cars again. Therefore, these problems of congestion and atmosphere pollution need to be dealt with over a long-term period.
Instead of lifting the cost of fuel, governments should implement other solutions. One typical measure is encouraging nations to invest in natural and recyclable energy lessening the level of pollution. Moreover, they can map out routes to prompt inhabitants to choose other paths to drive or upgrade the public transportation system to attract more citizens to use them not only to improve the congestion issues but also to cut off some released gas. Especially, when parking in the city center is always a challenging concern, a well-organized and dense public transportation system can motivate people to avoid their own cars.
As has been demonstrated, controlling the cost of petrol is not the proper solution for tackling these matters over a long period. If we want to completely solve the problem we need to apply long-term plans, it would be better for the government to develop green energy to minimize harm to the environment and to improve the public transportation system to reduce congestion.
