These days, there is a significant shortage of qualified engineers, and the field remains heavily dominated by men around the world.
In my opinion, this situation is driven mainly by the difficulty of mathematics and science, and the image of technological universities. Besides, I recommend two approaches to encourage more people, especially women, to pursue a career in engineering.
Focusing first on the two main reasons for this situation, many people dislike mathematics and science because these subjects are more difficult than language and society, diminishing the number of science students. Moreover, many women see technological schools as schools that are men-oriented. As a result, they are unwilling to to enter in these schools.
Examining two primary measures for this concerns, governments should create new programs that enables students to have interest in mathematics and science, encouraging students to become good at them. As a result, the number of science students increases, after which this problem goes toward solution. Furthermore, governments ought to improve women education in order to raise the number of women science students, For instance, if the states build women technological universities, women can easily pursue a career in engineering.
In conclusion, many countries face the circumstance where the number of qualified engineers is lacking and the field remains dominated by men because science subjects are more difficult and many people wrongly think of technological universities. Countries can take two measures in order to encourage more people, particularly women, to pursue a career in engineering: creating new science programs and fostering women education.
