Band 4+: In many countries children are engaged in some kind of paid work. Some people regard this as completely wrong, while others consider it as valuable work experience, important for learning and taking responsibility. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.

Children’s part-time job is a world-known dilemma. On one hnd it may be appreciated as an exploitaion of child labor, but on the other hand it can prepare kids for the future separate from parents life.

In my opinion, it’s good when children start to work early getting valuable experience only in case they won’t themselves and not suggested to do it by their parents, teachers etc. When I was a child I preffered studying to working. My family told me that I was too young to work and that I would have enough time for it in my whole life. “Just enjoy your childhood while you’re able to do it” they said. Anyway I found a way to make money without doing any physical job. I took part in different competitions such as my mother tongue language, math, physic, chemistry school olimpiads. As I was really good in studying I won prize places and got money for that. They were enough for me to buy what I wanted.

But when the school was over and I started studying at the university it became difficults for me to find a real job. I simply wasn’t ready for such a high requirments that our employers set for the future employees. So that I had to start my adapting from zero. Actually that’s what I concern about. My experience is the example that children shoud get used to how our society works, starting in aproximately 14-16 years old. For that purpose they need to find a little work for themselves. It can be cleaning snow in winter, mowing the grass in summer or any kind of online work. It’s not difficult to study graphic of motion design or programming to recieve good money.

Therefore, I understand why some people argued about kids’ work. Such thoughts could be formed at other times by upbringing, the mentality in which our parents and grandparents grew up. But the world is changing and doesn’t stay in one point. So that our children must be ready for these changes. And ending my opinion I’d like to say that all great and famous people have started their career in childhood, because it disciplined, focused mind and help to set goal to achieve in future.
