Today, junk food is getting more and more affordable and becoming accessible for almost everyone around the world. While fast food can be seen as an ideal choice in some regards, I do believe that it has far more detrimental effects on people’s health.
Fast food, as its name suggests, is a type of food that can be made in seconds, meaning that it is an ideal choice for someone who is in a rush. To be more specific, a majority of people, especially who are tied up with their studies and work, cannot find enough time to eat a proper meal that takes a great amount of time to get prepared. In that case, fast food is the number one choice that can come into one’s mind as it is both cheap and can be served in much less time, allowing them to get done with their tasks on time. Besides that, there are some people who live alone and are not familiar with cooking at all, especially those who are far away from their families in other countries. These people cannot help but buy and eat junk food, as it is a budget-friendly option that allows them to save money and spend it on more important needs.
On the other hand, fast food is regarded as one of the most harmful types of food for overall health conditions. Specifically, if eaten too much, it can lead to a wide range of diseases. One of them is related to digestion, which is the result of eating junk food excessively and not giving it a rest with balanced meals that contain water helping one digest better. Furthermore, more and more individuals are becoming overweight because of consuming fast food to an extent which is more than recommended by professionals. In turn, obese people are going to have higher risk of having heart attacks and high chance of becoming the victims of cancer in the long run.
In conclusion, while fast food can be regarded as a convenient option when someone is in a hurry or wants to save up some money by buying something affordable to eat, its drawbacks far outnumber as it leads to serious health problems related to digestion, heart attacks and cancer.
