In some parts of the world, the number of people who have the desire to know the history of the place they residenced in is increasing. This is mainly caused by the unique architecture of the building or/and the behaviour of the neighbourhood. To examine this desire, they can go to an online searching platform, library, historian, or ask questions to people who live nearby the area.
Unique architecture of a building can develop a curiosity in the society. The curiosity is even more reasonable when it’s developed upon the people who stay in that house. They might want to know about the process of crafting the house or the meaning of one particular aspect of the house. Furthermore, they would probably need to know how long this building is going to last if it was built over a century ago. On the other hand, the surroundings of the house can also play a role in spreading curiosity. There are two possible categories of neighbourhood – when it gives the humble vibes so the resident feels the sense of welcome or when it gives mystic vibes so the resident feels terrified. For example, as a Chinese-Indonesian with a strong family bond to tradition, my family always checks the history of the house, neighbourhood, nearby stores, even the ‘fengshui’ of the street when we’re thinking about buying a house. This is because we don’t want any bad luck in our future path in life.
There are two methods people can use to find out the history of a building. The easiest and most convenient method is through online searching platforms, like museum or library websites. People can do the search anywhere whenever they like. However, this method has a flaw. Because there’s so much wrong information online, finding right information about something can be a difficult task to do. This problem can be solved by following the next method – through offline sources. Ensuring the right information can be done by reading books in the library, asking a historian, or simply by just asking the people that have lived for a long time in those locations. For example, when my grandpa was a president of a town we lived in, many people came to him to ask a bunch of questions about the history of their house.
In conclusion, to have the essential knowledge about the building they lived in, people might feel more secure in that area. Ensuring the curiosity developed by seeing the building’s unusual architecture, people might want to know about the deep meaning behind that house. To do this research, people can go online and search through a variety of websites or they can ask people who already lived in that area for a significantly long period.
