_InIn contemporary society, an increasing amount of food and drink is being sold in plastic packaging. While this trend may bring significant benefits, I firmly believe that its disadvantages far outweigh its advantages.
Using plastic packaging can bring significant benefits to both consumers and sellers. Plastic packaging is commonly used nowadays due to its convenience and flexibility, especially in supermarkets and restaurants, because of its durability and widespread availability. It is not likely to break and can hold a large number of heavy items. Additionally, the process of manufacturing plastic packaging is quite cost-effective compared to its counterparts, such as traditional dishes or cups. Although plastic packaging cannot withstand high temperatures, it is less likely to break like glassware, making it a safer and more practical option for everyday use.
In contrast, using plastic packaging may bring detrimental impacts. Plastic bags cannot be easily recycled because their chemical structures are hard to decompose. Annually, there are a large number of plastic bags which cannot be recycled and are disposed of into the environment, causing numerous disruptions to ecosystems, such as soil and marine life. Consequently, marine creatures such as fish may ingest these bags, leading to widespread deaths among marine animals. Additionally, the process of burning plastic bags emits a large amount of CO2, which disrupts the ozone layer and is also a major factor contributing to global warming.
In conclusion, while I believe that plastic bags may bring significant benefits due to their durability and low manufacturing cost, making them an optimal choice for everyday use, they cause detrimental impacts on the environment because they are hard to recycle. As a result, they can lead to profound impacts on marine life and soil. Therefore, I firmly believe that their drawbacks far outweigh the benefits.
