Nowadays, the demand for imported foods is increasing while local foods are losing their popularity among the people. This essay will discuss the main causes of this problem and suggest possible solutions.
One of the main causes of the problem is that food from other countries is significantly cheaper than local products. This factor makes foreign foods more available and attractive for people whereas inner products become unnecessary. It creates a large number of problems for regional agriculture, making its economy weaker and dependent on other countries. The solution is for the government to make local products much cheaper in comparison with foreign foods ,which would attract more people and increase the demand for them.
Another reason is that local products often have low quality whereas products from abroad are high-quality as they are checked in countries borders with many quality control centres. Therefore, it increases trust for imported production and reduces recognition for regional foods because they are more harmful than foreign foods. To tackle this issue, the authorities ought to increase the quality of inner products and provide healthy food for their residents, in order to create competitive goods which will be dominant in the inner market.
In conclusion, imported foods are becoming more popular than local foods due to such reasons as they provide low costs and high qualities. My view is that the main responsibility for solving the problem lies with the authorities actions, creating special control systems which will check the quality of local productions and make them more attractive.
