In numerous countries, young people are increasingly experiencing significant mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. From my perspective, financial constraints and social isolation are the primary factors contributing to this trend. To address these problems, promoting a work-life balance and encouraging greater engagement with family and friends could be effective solutions.
On the one hand, financial limitations are a major cause of unhappiness among the youth. When individuals struggle to afford basic necessities such as food and clothing, their stress levels escalate, leading them to feel inadequate even in managing daily needs. Every person aspires to achieve their goals, but not everyone has the means to do so. Moreover, the pervasive use of technology has exacerbated social isolation. Although various factors contribute to this behavior, the excessive reliance on smartphones in daily life has become a notable issue. Over time, people become engrossed in their devices, neglecting real-world interactions. Japan serves as a real-life example of this phenomenon, where high smartphone usage has been linked to increased social withdrawal.
On the other hand, individuals must learn to establish a healthy balance between work and life. A heavy workload can place people under immense pressure, resulting in heightened stress levels over time. Avoiding overly demanding tasks can help mitigate this stress. Furthermore, humans are inherently social creatures, and prolonged detachment from the community adversely affects mental well-being. For instance, Maslow, an economist who identified five essential human needs, emphasized that social interaction is a fundamental requirement for every individual.
In conclusion, limited financial resources and significant social isolation are key drivers of anxiety and depression among young people. Implementing strategies such as maintaining a work-life balance and actively participating in society could offer viable solutions to these pressing issues.
