In the era of rapid technological advancement, methods of payment have become a widespread topic of discussion in many countries. As a result, some people believe that electronic transactions are gradually replacing traditional cash-based systems. From my perspective, although this development presents several drawbacks, it should be seen as a significant benefit to society overall.
Cybersecurity is one of the main drawbacks of using mobile applications for payment. In fact, when customers perform financial transactions, it is difficult to ensure complete protection of personal information, especially if their phones are hacked or connected to insecure Wi-Fi networks. This can lead to data breaches, theft of bank account details, and even financial losses. For example, hackers once attacked the Paytm e-wallet system in India, compromising the data of millions of users. Furthermore, due to the complexity of smartphone functions, many residents in rural areas are unfamiliar with digital technology, making it difficult for them to adopt such modern payment methods.
Nevertheless, cashless methods can bring numerous benefits. Not only do digital payments enhance convenience, but they also reduce the need for physical contact, which is vital during health crises. For instance, at stores like Circle K or Highlands Coffee, customers simply open the MoMo e-wallet and scan a QR code to complete the transaction, a process that takes approximately 10 seconds. This not only saves considerable time but also eliminates the risk of losing cash. Additionally, monetary exchanges through mobile applications allow users to manage their spending more wisely, as every transaction is automatically recorded — enabling better tracking and financial analysis.
In conclusion, although there are still some drawbacks, such as concerns about digital security and unstable internet connections, the significant benefits of digital payment systems clearly outweigh the disadvantages. By improving technological infrastructure and educating the public about safe usage, societies can maximize the advantages of this cashless trend.
