Locally produced TV shows and films are becoming less popular compared to the foreign ones. Although there are some disadvantages of implementing international cinematography, I think that the advantages of watching foreign films and programmes outweigh the potential drawbacks.
Admittedly, watching foreign films may pose a significant threat to locally produced ones. People often watch international TV shows and films and might be unaware of consequences domestic cinema companies face financially. If audience is not encouraged to watch films and television programmes of their own country, local cinematography cannot perform and compete in an international level because of the income shortages and no funding. However, this drawback can be solved with sufficient support from the audience and allocated funds from the government, making cinema industry rise steadily.
Moreover, people are more likely to broaden their horizons while watching foreign TV shows and movies. Many films and programmes which are made internationally can introduce their culture, traditions, and values to the viewers through the content and plot as a whole. Consider for example Korean series, known as Kdramas, where tight family bonds and respect for the elderly people are usually demostrated, making other nations be acknowledged about the culture of Asian people. Thus, watching television programmes and films produced in other countries may benefit people more by introducing their cultural heritage.
In ocncluson, although watching international movies and TV shows may cause som drawbacks, I believe that through that people can broaden their horizons and learn more about each other’s culture.
