With the swift evolution social norms and globalization, it is pervasively observed that solitary living has become increasingly popular among young adults. While dwelling on one’s own forces people to less rely on others to survive, its potential emotional psychological hardships deserve far greater consideration.
From a positive perspective, solo living can serve as a catalyst in terms of exercising autonomy. As long as individuals reside by themselves, they shoulder the entire burden of housing expenditures, such as renting, mortgage payments, and utility bills, which can assist them to master their finances effectively and make progress gradually. This practice can yield significant long-term dividends for one’s personal life regarding independence followed by enhanced performance in workplaces, thereby laying a robust foundation for future financial security and stability. This circumstance is particularly advantageous for those who want to build financially stable lifestyles while avoiding discretionary spending and rack of debts.
In my perspective, however, living alone may contribute to significant emotional struggles. From a critical point of view, when people occupy on their own, as opposed to sharing a home with family members or roommates, they often don not have immediate access to casual conversations. This ultimately hinders social bonding and daily companionship, leaving them fewer opportunities for spontaneous social engagement, which, additionally, discourages social stimulation. Thus, dwelling by oneself can exacerbate mental health issues, such as overwhelming pressure and depression, especially in times of difficulty or personal crisis, without the advantage of sharing your worries with your family members. Given the sedentary and isolated lifestyles people lead in the modern world, these challenges may be particularly onerous for extroverted people, who heavily rely on social bonding to gain energy.
In conclusion, although residing in isolation has the potential to offer autonomy and financial solitary, I maintain that its detrimental effects on disturbing emotional stability should be prioritized.
