It is now often observed in some countries that residents have to pay for their healthcare services, whereas many individuals assert that governments should be responsible for the public health. In my view, I concur that governments should subsidise medical facilities, making it accessible to everyone.
To begin with, nowadays, many individuals have to pay for their medical treatments, which has created a burden on the residents. Since medical facilities are often very expensive, all the citizens cannot afford it. Therefore, governments should make medical care accessible to all people by subsidising it. Consequently, this will remove the financial barrier and all individuals would be able to receive an equal treatment. To illustrate, Shaukat Khanam is a health organisation in Pakistan, which provides free of cost treatment to cancer patients, allowing people from poor backgrounds to get a quality treatment, thus removing the financial hurdles.
An additional reason for my stance is that facilitating medical care will enhance the overall well-being of a country. When people are able to get free access to hospitals, medicines, and doctors, this will keep life-threatening diseases and infections at bay. For instance, Polio used to be a prevalent disease in Pakistan, however, since the government started giving Polio vaccines at no cost, more people benefited from it, which has eventually eradicated this viral disease in most of the areas.
In conclusion, while in most countries still people are paying for their healthcare, I believe that governments should set up free medical care. As a consequence, not only this will improve their healthcare system, but it would also make medical care in reach of all individuals.
