It is common these days to witness the growing consumption of the foreign food, and lots of food is imported from other countries nowadays. While there are benefits to using food from other nations, I would argue that consuming foreign food is disadvantageous to some extent.
On the one hand, it is beneficial for individuals to consume many kinds of food from other regions for various reasons. One point is that the trend helps increase the experiences of customers to different types of products around the world because residents have the chance to enjoy international cuisine without travelling to other areas, and make their local dishes become more diverse. In addition, when a country struggles with the period of lacking food, foreign products will be necessary to meet the needs of citizens. For instance, since local regions suffer from natural disasters, farms and crops can be damaged, so food from other nations will supply enough food resources for people to overcome difficult periods.
On the other hand, I believe that importing products from other nations also brings some disadvantages to some extent. The first aspect is that residents have to pay a high cost for foreign food because merchants have to pay for packing and transport fees when they import these products from a long distance. This is not suitable for low-income people who do not have the possibility of high-quality food, and the local food still meets the demand of impoverished individuals’s stable diets. Furthermore, if organic products are delivered in a long day, they will not keep their quality because they are prone to be ruined by hot or wet weather. When individuals consume vegetables or fruits that are not fresh, they may not contain full of vitamins and proteins to provide for people’s bodies. Therefore, local products still retain their tastes while transferring to consumers.
In conclusion, although enjoying foreign food has some advantages, I think the vogue brings some negative aspects of costs and quality.
