In many countries, more and more people tend to choose a city or a town as a place for a long-term stay. This essay will discuss the main reasons standing behind such a phenomenon, and state the following issues of different kinds it might cause.
People move into cities more because it offers more opportunities and daily amenities. The active urbanisation is nothing new to a post industrial society. With the development of economy and social awareness it becomes common for people to exist in settled regions. Rural life is not rarely quite packed, you have to keep a track on numerous things just to live in a more organised environment, this type of schedule holds no extra minute to breath. A lot of modern people would find such a routine unnecessarily restricting. However, living in urban areas makes our daily lives much simpler in many ways. When everything is around the corner, the chores we have to do become more automatic, which leaves more space for personal growth and self-reflection. For example, instead of spending hours on manual tasks common in the countryside, city residents utilize delivery apps and nearby services to handle chores instantly. Consequently, this freed-up schedule allows individuals to focus on acquiring new skills, spending time with loved ones, or simply relaxing.
As the country develops new convenient opportunities appear. People, driven by personal ambition and blinded by urban dreams are flooding the megapolices, but the land and job market are not infinite. With an expanding population, the territorial resources start to eventually run out, blurring the borders between a metropolis and a countryside. Which creates slums around the city and human anthills inside it. As a result – the prices for living facilities rise drastically, finding a good job becomes almost impossible. In Chinese developed regions we can observe exactly that. The overcrowded urban areas create an unprecedented competition for a coveted position at a university and in the job market. This sort of a lifestyle turns the entire existence into a neverending race, and certainly does not help the spiritual enlightenment everyone is talking about.
In conclusion, the urbanisation process is a natural and normal occurrence in a modern world, but it has its own flaws. I am of the opinion that it only brings problems when uncontrolled from the outside, the overall negative effect is just a result of the disbalance of the resources.
