People in some countries believe that by reading newspapers and watching news on TV, their time would be squandered.
I strongly disagree with this perspective as reading and watching news have many positive impacts on our lives. In the first place, by watching and reading news, people keep themselves abreast of what is happening in the world. As a result, they would make some decisions based on up-to-date news. For example, the economy of Iran has been affected by severe recession and rampant inflation, so the value of national money reduces every month. If public follow economical news, they will be able to manage their wealth properly. For instance, they realize that when they should transfer real to dollar and vice versa.
Moreover, following news help people foster a critical mindset which improves their outlook on life. As an example, when they listen the news about war in some countries and see the poor children, they might decide to help them financially or emotionally. Or they would even protest against the country attacking another one. For instance, last year my classmates and I organized a charity and invited some benevolent people. Unfortunately, they donated a huge amount of money to the people living in war-torn and poverty-stricken areas that we became aware of this areas through the news.
However, nowadays people have hectic lifestyle and are inundated with many responsibilities and cannot allocate a considerable amount of time to following news. Additionally, there are many bad news can raise negative energy to them and contribute negatively to their mood. It is highly recommended that they should keep themselves informed about war that they surrounded with, since it helps them make decisions based on logic, develop an ethical mindset to distinguish good from evil.
Overall, despite the fact that some individuals are not inclined to watch or read news as they think it is a kind of wasting time, I am eager to agree with this idea that following them have a lot of benefits for us, as I mentioned above.
