In many regions, small shops and town centers are going out of business because people tend to drive to the large out-of-town stores resulting in an increase in car use. Furthermore, this means that people without cars have it harder accessing these out-of-town stores. As such, it’s important to look at the effect this has and whether this is a welcome development. That brings us to the aim of this essay, to reassure that the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages.
I believe that large out-of-town shopping centers are great for bussiness because they amass a lot of people who discover small and big shops alike. The presence of shops in shopping centers act like an advertisement for them. The proximity of shops also proves convenient for customers when shopping for multiple things at once. In my opinion, this bolsters the economy for shops of all sizes and makes shopping more convenient for customers. This also leads me straight to my next point.
Even though there are still some people without cars to access out-of-town stores, large stores are built with accessibility in mind for attracting as many people as possible. This means that public transport is usually sufficiently close to these stores. Furthermore, many countries are beginning to see cheap rentable car companies and cheaper alternatives to taking a taxi. I believe that altogether the shopping centers remain accessible to most people.
In conclusion, with large shopping centers boosting bussiness for shops of all sizes and becoming increasingly easier to access, it’s reasonable for me to say that the advantages of such a development outweigh the disadvantages.
