In many countries, smoking is now considered to be an illegal act to be done in public places. However, a significant amount of people find the new ban to be rational. Personally, I do relate to that new rule being assumed to be logical.
First of all, not only is smoking extremely harmful to the individual’s health, but it is also capable of causing a negative influence on the other people. Majority of smokers are likely to have their routine being done outdoors, in any other public place such as: a shopping mall, park or a bus stop. At first sight, it seems to be pretty innocent, but in reality, the process of smoking while being among the other people can cause an undesired act of passive smoking. For example, a shy person may stay close to their actively smoking friend out of a simple fear to be claimed as a rude person for a desire to stay away. Nevertheless, the secondhand smoke is still being produced meanwhile and consumed by them cluelessly.
Another negative aspect of smoking in social places is rather moral. From my point of view, smoking in front of the others is disrespectful. For example, it can trigger a person who is trying to quit that particular habit, or catch an eye of a child, which furthermore can attract them to a trial. Putting the ethical norms aside, it might become a reason for someone to feel physically unwell. I think it’s essential to be considerate of other people’s both mental and physical state.
In conclusion, I absolutely agree with an opinion that smoking ban is totally justified.
