It has been observed that in several countries, learners are rapidly taking advantage of artificial intelligence tools to fulfill their requirements, by completing their tasks and assignments. As far as I am concerned, I believe this is a negative development because excessive use of AI tools could negatively affect individuals’ cognitive ability and communication skills.
To begin with, many people observe that students’ critical thinking and creativity decreases over the last few years. This is because of AI, everything is available on the internet without any cost, which students take advantage of to use all the time to complete their schools’ homework and tasks. Moreover, In the past, people would spend around half of their time to think and find solutions, which nowadays, AI can do in minutes. For instance, many students who use AI to complete their work and studies will often face difficulties in the future. As a result, unemployment will peak and students lack creativity as well as productivity, which is essential for a balanced career.
Furthermore, those students who copy and paste the answers from AI tools are likely to lose their communication skills. This is because communication with individuals, peers, or teachers predominantly requires knowledge and a present mind, but when students do not have any knowledge they lack communication skills, which directly affect their career. For instance, many newspaper industries prefer those writers who do not use AI to generate ideas because a reporter’s career requires independent views. Therefore, AI undeniably creates a wedge between humans and their inter-personal skills.
In conclusion, although artificial intelligence not only reduces career opportunities, but also negatively impacts on their communication skills, creativity, and productivity, Therefore, I believe it is a negative development, especially for those students who use it for their school work.
