It is true that air and water pollution are among the most challenging concerns facing many countries. While there are a number of reasons, I believe steps can be taken to address them.

Factories release various chemical wastewater into nearby rivers or lakes, and emission gases mix with the air. For example, industrial waste may have detrimental effects on marine life. Another relevant reason is that the increasing number of vehicles contributes significantly to air pollution. Cars, buses, and trucks burn petrol or diesel and release exhaust fumes into the atmosphere. For instance, during rush hour, hundreds of buses and cars remain stuck in traffic congestion with their engines running, producing a large amount of fumes into the air.
Air and water contamination can certainly be reduced. Firstly, governments should enforce stricter environmental regulations on industries. Factories should treat wastewater and control harmful gas emissions. If any companies dump waste into water, they have to face punishment. For example, authorities regularly examine industries and factories if they do not maintain the regulations, they have to pay fees. Secondly, Governments should inspire people to use electric forms of transportation. Without releasing exhaust fumes, good public transportation and electric cars reduce petrol or diesel vehicles on the roads.
In conclusion, air and water pollution will continue to be a problem unless industry recycles waste properly and uses better electric transportation systems.
