The new increasing approach of single living in more developed countries is under a great debate among many experts and scholars. Although the advantages of this way of life is undeniable, its destructive effects must be taken seriously. In the following paragraphs we will outline how this attitude can harm both individuals and communities.
The first and most problematic consequence of solitary living is its impact on individual’s health, which ultimately affects the overall well-being of its society. It is widely argued that the widespread prevalence of psychiatric disorders such as anxiety and depression, is associated with an isolated way of life. The conditions one chooses to experience in their own home will characterize and generalize the entire manner of their lifestyle. This will impose immense expenses to the government. Eventually the complexity of the situation does not let the country to recover its health.
Additionally, fertility, which is the product of coupling, encounters serious difficulties. The lack of adequate human resource fostering due to this trend cannot be easily compensated. This will compel the government to take measures against the problem. Actions include hiring a workforce from other nations with completely different cultures and having policies that encourage a higher birth rate. At the end, these actions, which are proven to create unprecedented adversities per se, don’t seem to solve the issue, wasting tons of resources and energy.
In conclusion choosing to live single as a human being is against the rules of nature. It is not only poisoning for an individual’s mental and physical health but also destroying for the entire society.
