There is a growth in population of the elderly. I will discuss the advantages and disadvantages and follow-up with a conclusion.
Old people have lived their lives for a long time, which means they have an advantage in experience and providing important life lessons they have learned in the past. For example, my grandfather has experience in the military and he is currently in his 80s. Therefore, he would be able to tell me about his experience and his past, with that, once I enter my mandatory military service, I will know how to react and what to expect not just in the military but also in society. This proves that experience in the past is an advantage for the elderly.
It is scientifically proven that once an average human turns old, they will be more vulnerable to diseases and/or illnesses. For example, my grandmother is around her 70s and is currently fighting dementia. During pre-pandemic, she was incredibly healthy and had close to no health problems. Because of this, they are more vulnerable to accidents whether they’re at home, the hospital, even outside walking down the street. This shows that the increase in number of the elderly will cause more unfortunate accidents.
In conclusion, being old can be an advantage to the younger generations by providing them a great example of experiences and life lessons in the past while it is scientifically proven that, the older you are, the more vulnerable you are to diseases and/or illnesses. Therefore, unfortunate accidents may occur multiple times.
