As large cities are becoming more popular, the conditions in large cities in which people live naturally worsens. This essay will explain the causes to the problem of large cities becoming disadvantageous in terms of quality and discuss the solutions for this situation.
As big cities experience larger growth in population related to rural areas, pollution increases positively due to increased human activity. This increased pollution levels might decrease the quality of living standards in big cities. Humans tend to utilise private transportation in large cities as public transportation might be exhausting in city traffic. As private transportation increases with utilisation of cars and motorcycles, the level of air pollution rises due to increasing carbon emission. This causes several health problems like difficulty in inhaling and exhaling or coronary diseases. Besides air pollution, water is also negatively affected by human activity. For example, as the population increases in Istanbul, water is also significantly damaged because of human activities like throwing the bins in the Bosphorus. This might avoid people from swimming in the Bosphorus, meaning that citizens of Istanbul should look for other cities to swim while they have the opportunity to swim in their own city. Thus, the quality of life in big cities is negatively affected by human activities as they create air and water pollution.
Some solutions to worsening life conditions in highly populated cities include implementing awareness programs for citizens and building alternative roads to avoid traffic jams. Some people might not be aware of the significance of the subject of pollution and the way it affects people’s lives. Therefore, governments can implement some awareness programs for every age so that they can decrease the level of different types of pollution in those cities. Besides awareness programs, governments can build new roads to avoid traffic in large cities. For instance, the Turkish government built a new bridge which connects the two continents in Istanbul to avoid traffic congestions in the other two bridges. This decreased the level of traffic congestion in Istanbul, increasing the living standards of people living in Istanbul.
In conclusion, the problem of worsening life quality is due to different types of pollution like air and water. However, the quality of life can be adjusted by conducting awareness programs for the environment and building new alternative roads.
