Band 8+: In many countries, the quality of life in large cities is becoming worse/ What do you think are the causes of this problem? What measures could be taken to solve it?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is often argued that in numerous countries, the standard of living in major urban centers is declining. In my opinion, this phenomenon is attributable to several factors and there are effective measures that can be taken to address it.

One major reason for the declining quality of life in large cities is the rising cost of living. In many urban areas, housing prices and daily expenses have increased significantly, making it difficult for people to afford a comfortable lifestyle. As a result, many residents are forced to live in small or overcrowded apartments, which negatively affects their well-being. In addition, the need to work longer hours in order to cover basic expenses leads to stress and exhaustion. Consequently, people have less time to relax or spend with their families, which further reduces their overall quality of life.

To address this issue, governments should implement effective measures aimed at reducing financial pressure on citizens. One possible solution is to provide affordable housing by building low-cost apartments or controlling rent prices. This would allow people to live in better conditions without spending most of their income on accommodation. Furthermore, authorities could invest in developing suburban areas with improved transport systems. As a result, individuals would have the option to live outside crowded city centres while still being able to commute to work. These measures could significantly improve living standards in large cities.

In conclusion, the decline in quality of life in large cities is a complex issue with significant causes, such as cost of living and pressure on residents. However, by implementing measures like housing policies, it is possible to alleviate these problems and enhance urban living standards.
