Band 7+: in many countries, the tradition of having family meals together is disappearing. why is this happening? what will the effects of this to be on the family and society?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent years, the tradition of having meals together as a family has been declining in many parts of the world. This change is mainly due to modern lifestyles and changing work patterns. The disappearance of family meals can have serious effects on both families and society as a whole.

One possible advantage is that people have more freedom to eat when it suits them. In many families, parents works late or children have school and other activities. Eating at different times can help everyone follow their own schedule. Also, some people may prefer to eat alone while watching TV or using their phone, and this can be more relaxing for them. Technology like messaging or video calls also helps families stay in touch, even if they do not sit at the same table.

However, not eating together can cause problems. Family meals are an important time to talk and connect. When families stop doing this, they may become less close, and communication can get worse. Children especially may miss out on support and advice from their parents. In society, it can lead to more loneliness and a loss of values. Over time, this could create a weaker sense of community and less understanding between people.

In conclusion, having fewer family meals can give people more personal flexibility, but it can also harm family relationships and social values. It is important to try and eat together sometimes, to keep families strong and connected. Governments and communities could also encourage this tradition by promoting time spent with family and work-life balance.

There is an ongoing debate about whether students should be given homework every day or have more free time after school.
