In many countries, the use of plastic bags is banned as it is one of the major causes of pollution. Some people think that plastic bags should be banned. The idea of getting rid of plastic bags is very benificial, but it is not that easy to completely eradicate the use of plastic bags. That is because there is no material which is as cheap and widely available as plastic.
Furthermore,Plastic is a material which has various other uses. Just enforcing a ban on plastic bags will not be enough to affect the enviornment in a positive way. Many plastic-based creations such as plastic bottles, plastic toys, and other plastic products, will have to be banned. Which dosen’t make sense, because economic dependency on plastic is very high. Other, alternatives for plastic is a possible solution to this problem.
Expanding on the above idea, an alterntive of plastic needs to be cheap and easily available, It could be a plant-based substance which can get easily mixed with soil. Moreover, if it could provide essential nutrients to the soil that would be even better. It could solve the existing problems of plastic, and give additional benefits.
Jute is a substance which is recently getting popular in my country India, as an alternative to plastic bags. The issue with jute is that it is way more expensive then plastic.
According to the articles, plastic is one of the leading causes for pollution. Even though, an instant ban on plastic bags will make an impact, but it wouldn’t make a difference in the long-run. Focus should be put on educating the people about the ill-effects of plastic, and without proper disposal it can cause enviornmental issues.
