In many countries, people pay insufficient respect to elderly people. This phenomenon could be explained in several ways, such as; the age gap between 21st-century people and older people, which will cause differences in their mindset, their ideas, and their way of doing things as a part of the society.
Elderly people got their information from books, radios, and newspapers which were regulated strictly to maintain the trustworthiness of the sources, However, in this day and age there are a lot of resources that have the goal of misleading people to believe in non-true or harmful things. In this way, political parties trick old people into voting for them by manipulating them with misinformation. With this problem, some adults and teenagers think that older people what is bad for society this is because most of the time these political parties trick older people with the intention to exploit the resources of the government.
I think another problem that causes people to respect elderly people less is their lack of understanding of today’s basic things like mobile banking. Nowadays people live their lives quickly and fast, they do multiple things together and if they don’t, they can not keep up with society. Most older people cannot pick up with the pace at which a normal person lives their life. These problems cause people to think that older people are too old to have a say in society and they do not deserve respect.
To conclude everything mentioned in this text, elderly people are different than a normal average 21st-century person in varied ways such as speed and their understanding of the world. This results in people not respecting older people sufficiently.
