The unlimited accessibility of televisions shows in most countries are both beneficial and harmful to the society. There are arguments that support its benefits or its harmful effects.
The people opposing the availability of television shows are of the opinion that these shows are somehow addictive. The media is believed to have manufactured these programs to grab the attention of the populace for long periods of time to shape people’s perspectives on morals and standards, and even sometimes bend their principles. As a result, the cultures and norms of a society are altered in a way that is far from its origin. Therefore, over-indulging in TV shows will have a negative impact on the community.
On the other hand, the 24-hour run of programs on the television screens are setup in a way that they are able to cater everybody in their different stages of life. The variety of programs are configured in a way to cater the downtime from daily tasks of the viewer. The scheduling of these shows are targeting the availability of its viewers. As a result, these individuals are able to catch their favorite programs at the time most convenient to them. Additionally, various programs are created to educate, not just entertain, its viewers. Programs such as kids TV shows that teach toddlers how to count, recognize letters, and other educational programs, are able to teach these kids the basic concepts before they even begin to step inside the walls of a classroom. Similarly, the news programs are also able to both educate the public and inform the populace, mostly adults, of the latest trends.
In summation, the ideal that the limitless availability of tv shows are harmful is one that I do not agree with. The accessibility to these programs are beneficial to everybody because of the existence of educational programs and informative shows that can now be present in any time of the day
