In a large number of nations, leaving families and friends to pursue job opportunities in other locations has become a popular choice of many individuals. In this essay, I would elaborate on both benefits and drawbacks of this development before concluding which side is more prominent.
There are some major benefits associated with the trend that is mentioned in the opening. Unlike rural areas, urban centers are homes of numerous industries and companies. This leads to a fact that there are higher chances for better employment opportunies with well-paid salaries and social wellfares. Furthermore, due to the different proportions of currency among countries, many people opt to migrate to developed countries, primarily want to earn more and send money to their family members in their hometown to adress financial problems. For instance, in some Vietnamese countrysides, many households which have family members manage to migrate to other developed countries such as Japan, Korea, and the US for working, have escaped poverty and become wealthier in just a few years.
On the other hand, this trend also results in some notable disadvantages. It is a fact that there are a large number of talented people moving to other nations and looking for professional opportunities. As these countries often offer better living conditions, they prefer staying there rather than coming back their countries. As a result, their nations, which often are developing countries, lack skillful workers and professional experts, who play an important role in contributing to their economic and technology. A study carried out by Cambodia National University showed that 65% of its citizens living in the US opt to stay there instead of moving back to Cambodia. This has a negative impact on Cambodia economic as this country has to suffer from brain drain.
In conclusion, although leaving families and friends for career may bring certain disadvantages, I maintain that its advantages, namely high chances for job opportunies and ability to help their family members, prevail.
