We see a lot of enormous buildings in cities, particularly in well-developed countries.İn some cases governments construct these structures to serve as a workplace or a cultural hub.İn other cases these buildings are symbols of history. Although these buildings are important, they have advantages and disadvantages.
To begin with,the pros of large public buildings have economic benefits for governments.it can attract tourism, provide jobs and host some events e.g. exhibitions. For instance, lately art and history have become increasingly popular among people, constructing large museums which describe historical truths about the country can help the government in economical ways.Another advantage is prestige of the country,such buildings like headquarters monuments symbolise the value and identity of a city or nation. İn other words, it helps the government to show power.
Following that, besides pros it also has cons, large public buildings have higher expenditure more than other buildings including all cleaning, security and repairs. For example a lot of people going to visit even some of them destroy some tools in the construction,
public places must be clean and safe consequently, the government has to pay for employees. More important issue is poverty. Particularly in the last few years we see lots of people are homeless. Instead of spending on public buildings somehow Governments can help citizens to buy houses.
To conclude,while large public buildings have undeniable advantages like boosting the economy, it is essential to consider citizens’ requirements, especially for affordable housing.İn my opinion advantages of large public buildings outweigh disadvantages.
