It is considered that in various parts around the world, women do not prefer working in science and technology fields even though they study in the same fields. The root of this problem revolves around the practical skills. However, one of the viable solutions to curb this problem is to do deep analysis to find their interest.
The most predominant factor which leads to lack of practical skills among women is our education system itself. To elaborate, in underdeveloped and developing nations, women complete their academics with good grades by focusing more on theoretical concepts in comparison with practical skills. Therefore, they have less knowledge about their real usage and they left behind during the time of recruitment. This can be exemplified that a mere number of girls in underdeveloped countries get selected in IT companies as computer programmers due to lack of programming skills.
The problem of less number of women in field jobs of science and technology could be tackled by analyzing their interest in one particular area. Through analysis, women will get an idea about how to get more focused on a selected field’s practical knowledge instead of giving time to all areas. Nurturing these values among them not only facilitate to make proficient in selected fields but also increases women skilled labor pool . In Ukraine, for example, the maximum numbers of vacancies in the computer field are filled by women as compared to men population.
To conclude, lack of practical knowledge is the eminent reason for not working in science and technology fields. The only solution to this issue is to analyse their interest during the initial year of their course work as an integral part of the learning process.
