There is an argument in society about whether constant broadcasts about sports affect young people’s desires to participate in them or not. Many people think that they contribute inactivity of the youth, whereas others think that they inspire them. I believe that continuous coverage of sport on television has a positive impact on young people.
On the one hand, numerous people are convinced that broadcasts about sports are harmful for the youth. In their opinion, young individuals often have a passive lifestyle and they don’t take sports seriously. Moreover, over-consumption of these programs is becoming widespread among them. Consequently, some individuals think that young people are addicted to their screens and it immediately stops them from an active lifestyle. For example, many teenagers spend hours watching broadcasts, and they do not feel a desire to take part in these activities. Moreover, they can spend time with their friends and relatives who watch these programs just for fun and thus teenagers don’t feel any urge to participate in their favourite sports. This way of life was supported by only some young people.
On the other hand, others argue that continuous coverage of sports often contributes the youth desires to take part in sports themselves. Exceptional idols and atmosphere of competitiveness encourage young people to be more athletic. If the news and comedy programs were replaced by the broadcasts about sports, the youth would have more thoughts about their health and physical condition. For instance, children from low-income families in Brazil watch different programs about football and the number of people who play it has significantly increased. The main reason for this is that these children became thieves and connected their lives with drugs. Therefore, continuous coverage of sport helped them on their life paths and impacted positively.
To conclude, despite the fact that both opinions may exist, I firmly believe that broadcasts about sports produce more desires of the youth to take part in them.
