In this competitive era, athletes tend to push themselves beyond the limits in order to increase their ability in the sports. This emerge an idea for allowing themselves to consume banned drugs that prohibited by the federation. In order to analyze this phenomenon, a further explanation of the roots of the problem and the solution will be discuss in this essay.

Mostly, the athletes experience a huge desire to reach their victory especially in a competition. This kind of circumstance allow them to consume banned drugs to defeat their opponent. Moreover, the factors that affect those action are lack of confidence, has a insufficient time to train, and external pressure from their coach, family or even fans. A simple example for that situation is a badminton competition in Malaysia which held 10 years ago, after a comprehensive investigation Lee chong wei found by the federation to consume banned substance to boost his stamina in order to win the competition. Due to the pressure that he experienced from his fans who labelled him as the “king of badminton” he chose a shortcut to win.

Several cases like that keep increase over the time. Solutions need to stop this action in order to reach sportive environment. In my perspective, there are two solutions that can help this phenomenon to decrease. The first one is the athlete’s pupil need to support them no mater how their performance has been down or not. Secondly, the sport federation need to rehab them for whom already consume those forbidden drugs mentally and physically.

In conclusion, the extensive amount athletes that use banned substance are caused by external and internal factors. Thus, a strong support by their relatives or organisation need to change this phenomenon. It might take a long journey but by at least start to prevent it, this unwanted cases can be reduced.
