With the advent of a technology, internet become a tool that can teach and inform us with various information. So, some believe that students can learn new things through internet at home rather than going to school. I agree with this proposal and while there are numerous benefits, it also comes with some drawbacks.
On the one hand, studying at school is essential for two main reasons, one of which is social development. Unlike learning though internet, children can acquire the most essential skills such as teamwork, communication and social skills during school years. These skills worth equally as education. Thus, some parents opt for schools to make their son or daughter more independent. Furthermore, Discipline is another factor which shows schools in preferable image. Improving a knowledge and learning not only require various source, but also structured timetable. As students start to study at home, their productivity may decrease. Without strict teachers, some lazy but talented student can reach their peak. Providing them with educational environment and curriculum sometimes can be best option among parents.
I, however, agree with those who believe schools are no longer necessary for students. Firstly, when youngsters learn at home, they can at their own peace. Ability of learning differs among children and forcing them study in fixed period is not sensible. Since internet provides vast sources and tutorials, necessity of teacher may not be noticed. Moreover, unlike schools, online study doesn’t require much money. Apart from money spent for study, parents can save money from daily expense for transportation and food. In effect, these money can be applied for future career of their child.
In conclusion, while schools can be necessary for social development and discipline, i believe that benefits of online study, like flexibility and cost efficiency are more important
