In recent years, a growing number of people opt for possessing own individual cars is significantly on the increase on many countries. Nowadays, more people prefer to buy their own private car than the usage of public transportation. While some may see its positive development, but I firmly believe that it doesn’t have any advantages.
First and foremost, It could be argued that, owning a private car may cause global warming, air pollution, death of some animals, to name but a few. The carbon emissions of gasoline-powered cars harm ozone layer and that could end with severe human health problems and animals’ death. For instance, many animal species are facing extinction due to climate change. In addition, breathing dirty air can lead to heart disease and asthma and other respiratory conditions.
Another and major drawback is traffic congestion. Especially, in capital cities there are more and more cars day by day. And most of people suffer from being late to work, particulary on rush hours. Additionally, emergency services struggling to reach emergency center and most of the time it results with a life-threatening situation.
It is also worth noting, some parents buy their children a new car in their 18th birthday. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always have happy ending. Some adolescents don’t care about traffic rules. They drive their car under the influence. And it could end with death or injury.
In conclusion, although it is a positive trend for human beings, but it results with traffic jam and critical challenges for all life beings in many countries. It is thus humans need to consider new alternatives and effective urban planning strategies to mitigate these potential and adverse consequences.
