In our contemporary time, huge amount of money is being spent on cosmetics due to the fact that it makes individuals appear younger. The cause of this is because it helps to boost self-confidence and bring great sense of belonging. In my opinion, I believe that this is a negative trend since hto health and financial draining.
One of the major reasons for individuals’ appearance enhancement to look younger is to increase self-worth. Individuals that battle with low self-esteem always have this perception that their body structure is inadequate, thereby pressuring themselves to invest heavy in cosmetics in order to look young. Moreover, the pressure of having the sense of belonging propels people to be cautious of their looks, thus spending a lot. For example, older women of Abagana community generally tone their skin and wear expensive transparent clothes so that they can fit in with society.
However, in my view, spending a huge amount on cosmetics should not be encouraged as first off, it comes with a lots health risks. Some chemicals used in the production of creams, clothes, and shoes react with the skin which might lead to skin cancer in the future. For instance , according to World Health Organization in 2023, said that 80% of individuals aged 60-70 years who suffer from skin cancer resulted from the type of cosmetics they used. Also, some individuals go extra mile in emptying their pockets so as to achieve their desired physical look and enable them look younger than their age.
In conclusion, nowadays, for some reasons a lot of money is spent on appearance to look younger which is totally unacceptable considering the health implications and the costly to nafford.v
