In modern urban environment, many often argue that relationship and cooperation among people is weakened relatively to the past. While cities offer convenience and more opportunities, their residents often lack sense of community. Consequently, it might be a bit problematic to meet and interact with others. The question is : “Do we really need to restore our relations as they were before?”
The reason for decline in community bonds, perhaps, is the cities’ nature. Since they are accurately organized, people simply cannot find spare time to speak with their families and friends. In many large apartment blocks, the residents do not even know each other because they have never come across. Whenever we get into trouble, no one is there to offer a hand. “A prosperous city is one in which people cooperate” once told Al-Farabi, great philosopher of past. I think this words truly explain why we have to support relations”.
On the other hand, the world is full of co-working. Lots of organization were founded to empower and support people in need. For example, after World War 2, the Organization of United Nations (UN) was established in order to keep peace throughout the world and improve the relations among people of all sorts. This demonstrates that we already live in united society.
As long as we stand together , we will be able to overcome any kinds of global issues. Even though urban life has made it harder to maintain close communications, it does not mean we have to accept loneliness. No matter what, we have to be together.
